SAN SALVADOR – On March 2nd, FUSADES honored the legacy of Don Roberto Murray Meza who 40 years ago led the creation of this organization.  Based in San Salvador, FUSADES is a civil society group that promotes the economic and social progress of Salvadorans through sustainable development, a democratic system of law, individual freedom, and dialogue as a mechanism for resolving disagreements.  HUGE Executive Director Greg Huger spent part of his career building FUSADES alongside Mr. Murray Meza and thus was invited to share his memories with the group that gathered in San Salvador to celebrate his life.

Since the mission of Think HUGE is interrelated with the overall goals and commitment of FUSADES, Greg took the opportunity to inform the audience about recent initiatives, “HUGE’s raison d’être is the creation of sustainable employment through investment in nearshoring and the regional strategic infrastructure to facilitate it. We are organizing roadshows to bring companies interested in moving part of their value chains to the Northern Triangle of Central America and commercially strategic locations in the US. We are working with the textile sector, pharma, electric mobility, and toy industries. For example, 80% of the toys manufactured in the world are made in China. They are looking for alternatives. They were focused on Mexico, and we are opening their eyes to the Northern Triangle opportunity. They are interested in manufacturing capacity, judicial and physical security, ease of doing business, logistics, and labor standards.”

HUGE Founders are always seeking opportunities to collaborate with civil society organizations like FUSADES on addressing the issues of immigration and commercial tension with China.  We commemorate the life of Don Roberto Murray Meza and hope that his legacy will inspire people throughout the entire region to pursue progress.
