MIAMI, FL – Today, Dr. Juan José Daboub, President of ThinkHUGE spoke from the main stage on a panel regarding opportunities to improve the economic growth of Latin America at Concordia’s 2023 Americas Summit in Miami, Florida. Concordia is a member-based organization dedicated to facilitating cross-sector partnerships in order to create and spread social impact. Throughout the year, Concordia convenes heads of state, government officials, private sector executives, and leaders of nonprofits, think tanks, and foundations from around the world to find solutions to address modern global and regional challenges. The 2023 Americas Summit brings together leaders from all sectors to find opportunities for growth, innovation, and collaboration in the Western Hemisphere, with a focus on Latin America.

The HUGE (Honduras, USA, Guatemala, El Salvador) Business & Investment Council is a 501(c)(6) nonprofit business association established by private sector leaders from these four countries. HUGE represents the first joint effort of private sector job creators from all three Central American countries and their United States counterparts to drive massive job creation in these countries, including the United States.

Panelists discussed how governments can prepare to tackle current socio-economic challenges and accelerate economic growth, how the private sector can invest in the future of Latin America, and the role of public-private partnerships in unlocking long-term sustainable development. “The trade tension that exists between U.S. and China brings a great opportunity for Latin America to attract these companies that are coming out of China,” said Dr. Daboub.

Marisol Argueta de Barillas, Head of Latin America for the World Economic Forum commented, “Latin America is very heterogeneous. We cannot compare economies. Each economy has different structures, different challenges, and different risks.” Other panelists included Benigno López Benítez of the Inter-American Development Bank and John Yearwood of Politico.

As Washington DC’s go-to place for private investment and job creation in the Northern Triangle, HUGE seeks to bring together key stakeholders in the United States and the Northern Triangle, including small and medium-sized enterprises, civil society organizations, and the public sector, to sponsor flagship regional infrastructure projects that will catapult the region’s competitiveness. We will continue to share our message with platforms like the 2023 Americas Summit and thank Concordia for the invitation to participate on the main stage.
