Recently, representatives of the HUGE Business & Investment Council, Alejandro Guillen of Spectrum and Jose Mario Quinteros of Crowley Maritime, spoke publicly about the activity of their organizations in the context of the nearshoring experience in Central America, especially given that Mexico has had immense success attracting companies like Tesla over the last decade. Both Guillen and Quinteros see nearshoring as a massive opportunity for the Central American Northern Triangle and that is why both companies are making big investments in preparing the region.

HUGE (Honduras, USA, Guatemala, and El Salvador) represents the first joint effort of private sector job creators from all three Central American countries and their United States counterparts to drive massive job creation in these countries, including the United States. In addition to supporting the development of individual investment projects, as part of its mission HUGE seeks to bring together key stakeholders in the United States and the Northern Triangle, including small and medium-sized enterprises, civil society organizations, and the public sector, to sponsor flagship regional infrastructure projects that will catapult the region’s competitiveness.

Alejandro Guillen is the Business Manager for Spectrum, who is developing the Synergy Industrial Park Master Plan in Guatemala, which will feature residential development, vacation homes, education, technical colleges, universities, hotels, entertainment, and Synergy Industrial Park. Located at a central point, near the city of Escuintla, Synergy will boast easy access to important highways that connect to Mexico, Honduras, El Salvador, and Guatemala’s dry corridor, which facilitates movement from the Pacific to the Atlantic Ocean. The state-of-the-art, LEED-certified industrial park will offer easy access to talent, and human resources. It will have the infrastructure to provide energy quality and redundancy at competitive prices. Their goal is for the customer to focus on their core business model and to achieve this, the park will offer a series of value-added services.

Jose Quinteros is the Sales Director for Crowley, a major player in the logistics and shipping industry. Crowley is investing in a fleet of new LNG-powered ships and cargo handling facilities to be able to handle the significant increase in the movement of goods because of nearshoring. Quinteros is very encouraged by the recent approval of the SIECA master plan for logistics and mobility and assured that Crowley will do everything it can to support its implementation together with the other HUGE Founders.

Founders of HUGE like Spectrum/Pantaleon and Crowley are regional leaders in the agricultural, financial, textile, logistics, manufacturing, and other sectors, allowing them to provide a unique perspective on local investment opportunities and potential partnerships, and highlighting the Northern Triangle and the United States as a launchpad from which to serve regional and global markets. They have extensive experience in generating sustainable opportunities through their own entrepreneurial endeavors and are strongly committed to engaging others to join this effort.
